Roof Replacement & Repair Services in Arlington Heights, IL

Asphalt shingles, architectural shingles, emergency repairs, new construction, re-roofing — the foundation of what we do, done to the same owner-led standard every time.

Roof Replacement

Full residential and commercial roof replacements — asphalt shingles, architectural shingles, metal, slate, clay tile, and copper systems. We handle permitting, tear-off, installation, and cleanup. Every replacement comes with a 10-year labor and material warranty.

Roof Repair

Leaks, missing or cracked shingles, flashing failures, ice dam damage, and emergency repairs. We diagnose the actual source — not just patch symptoms — and fix it right. Available for urgent situations across the NW Chicago suburbs.

Asphalt Shingles

Architectural and dimensional asphalt shingles — the most widely chosen roofing material for Illinois homes. We install Class 4 impact-resistant shingles that may qualify for insurance discounts, and carry a full range of styles and profiles to match your home’s character.

Commercial Roofing

Flat, low-slope, and metal roofing for commercial buildings and multi-unit properties across the NW suburbs. We work directly with property owners and managers — no middlemen, no delays.

Specialty Services

Specialty Roofing — Metal, Copper, Flat & Slate

This is where Black Square stands apart. We fabricate our own metal details in-house and have worked with copper, slate, and flat roof systems that most local contractors won’t touch.

Custom Metal Roofing & Fabrication

We design and build our own metal roofing components in-house — flashings, brackets, collector boxes, vents, and complete standing seam systems. No off-the-shelf compromises.

Copper Roofing & Details

Copper roofing sections, bay window roofs, custom copper flashings, gutters, and downspouts. Hand-fabricated in-house to architectural specifications. A genuine specialty few local roofers can offer.

Flat Roofing

Single-ply TPO and PVC membrane systems for flat and low-slope roofs. Energy-efficient, Illinois-winter rated, and installed by a crew that understands the nuances of flat roof drainage and detailing.

Natural & Synthetic Slate Roofing

Natural slate and synthetic slate installation, repair, and replacement. We source genuine slate and install with the flashing and underlayment detail that makes the difference between a slate roof that lasts a century — and one that doesn’t.

Clay Tile Roofing

Clay tile roof installation, repair, and replacement. Spanish tile, mission tile, and custom profiles. We source quality clay tile and install with proper flashing and underlayment for long-term performance in Illinois conditions.

Skylight Installation & Repair

New skylight installation and leak repair. We work with fixed, vented, and tubular skylights and ensure the surrounding flashing — often the real source of leaks — is correctly integrated into the roof system.

Exterior Services

Siding, Gutters & Exterior Repair Services

Your roof and exterior work together as a system. We handle everything above the foundation — siding, gutters, flashing, stucco, fascia, balconies, and more.

Siding Installation & Repair

Vinyl, fiber cement, and wood siding installation and damage repair. Materials matched precisely — no obvious patches or mismatched seams. James Hardie and other premium systems available.

Gutter Installation & Repair

Seamless gutter installation, repair, and custom component fabrication. We make our own leaf guards, collector boxes, and brackets in-house — ensuring your gutters integrate perfectly with your roofline.

Stucco Repair

Exterior stucco crack repair, water damage restoration, and section replacement. We address the cause — not just the cosmetics — to prevent recurring moisture intrusion at the roof-to-wall junction.

Chimney Flashing Repair

Chimney leaks are almost always a flashing problem — not a chimney problem. We repair and replace step flashing, counter flashing, and saddle flashing using custom-cut metal fabricated in-house for a watertight seal.

Balcony & Deck Waterproofing

Leaking balconies and decks cause interior damage fast. We waterproof, repair, and in some cases fully replace deck surfaces and drainage systems. Composite decking installation also available.

Fascia, Soffit & Wood Rot

Rotted fascia boards, damaged soffits, and deteriorated rake boards repaired or fully replaced. We address wood rot before it spreads into the roof deck — protecting the whole structure, not just the surface.

FAQ

Common Questions About Our Services

Still not sure which service you need? Call us — we’ll tell you honestly what’s required, even if it means you spend less.

How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?

It depends on the age of your roof, the extent of damage, and the condition of the underlying deck. A roof under 15 years old with isolated damage is usually a repair candidate. Over 20 years, or with widespread granule loss, soft spots, or multiple leak points — replacement often makes more financial sense. We’ll give you an honest assessment during the inspection.

Do you handle both residential and commercial roofing?

Yes. We work on single-family homes, multi-unit residential buildings, and commercial properties across the NW Chicago suburbs. Flat roof systems (TPO, PVC) are common on commercial buildings and we have extensive experience with both new installations and replacements.

What is custom metal fabrication and why does it matter?

Most contractors order standard-size flashings, brackets, and vents from a supplier. We make ours. That means every piece is cut and formed to fit your specific roof geometry. The result is a tighter seal, fewer potential failure points, and a finished look that generic components simply can’t match — especially on complex rooflines, copper work, and custom metal roofing sections.

Are your services available outside Arlington Heights?

Yes. We serve 29 communities across the Chicago suburbs — including Palatine, Schaumburg, Northbrook, Winnetka, Lake Forest, Barrington, Hinsdale, Wilmette, Buffalo Grove, Downers Grove, Wheaton, Highland Park, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, and more. If you’re unsure, just call — we’ll let you know.

From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The quality of work speaks for itself — every detail was handled with incredible care, precision, and professionalism.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just had our roof done last week, and Mark managed the entire project. He even helped us with the design, which turned out great. On top of that, his guys noticed that our backyard sliding door wasn’t working properly and helped fix it on the spot. Way to go, guys — we will definitely recommend your business!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark was recommended to me by a contractor about 12 years ago. He replaced my room and gutters, ant the time I didn't know much about "good or bad" roof, but when I was selling my house few years later, I heart one of the realtors (he told me later that he used to be a roofer) tell his clients that rood on that house is done so well that it will outleave that house (and it was a brick ranch that wasn'tgoing anywherewith the next storm). When I purchased a new house, it had a "new" roof that was done by the company recommended by insurance adjuster. About a year after moving in I started heaving problems with it (my chimney was leaking, piece of plywood on my garage roof rotted out...) he was always there for me as soon as I called, and everything was done the right way. ( Saving money now for the new roof in siding, so Mark can get it done and I can forget about it forever)

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark and his team did a great job fixing my roof after issues left by a previous contractor. They repaired problems with the stucco wall, properly installed flashing where it had been done incorrectly before by a different contractor, and removed and replaced rotten wood siding, custom-cut to the correct length and width. They also resolved a long-running issue with the balconies where water was getting into the house, replacing the rotten flooring with composite material. Communication was clear, they explained everything along the way, and were very professional. Highly recommend.
